Motorola FlipOut can be described in one single word: cute. It is clearly targetted towards a younger, and dare I say, female audience with its quirky form factor and swivel hinge. At just 67mm a side, thats 2.6″ for the imperialists, it would tuck neatly into a pocket or a handbag. Motorola has always had a thing for odd rotators – some of you would remember the V70 from about 8 years ago that did quite well in Australia.
The phone runs Android 2.1 with MotoBlur 1.5 on a 600MHz processor. The interface is not much to speak of except that there are 7 customizable homescreens that can be used to display contacts, facebook updates, games and the like. A 3.2 MP camera completes the spec list. The Flipout will probably not get a Froyo upgrade, as quite clear from Motorola’s history with updates listed out on Gizmodo here. But that may be a good thing given the phone’s specifications.
Vodafone has an exclusive on the phone, you can get it on a $29 contract or $299 on prepaid. And you can compare all FlipOut plans here.
