Optus falls in line with ACCC mandate; offers 2 year warranties for phones
After Vodafone and Telstra, it is now Optus’ turn to offer a 24 month warranty on mobile phones bought on contract through them. All phones including Apple iPhone will be covered. However only new contracts will be covered by the warranties, existing users will not benefit from the cover.
This moves puts Optus a step ahead of Vodafone and Telstra who do not cover iPhones due to Apple policies. However, Optus has the greatest marketshare for iPhones in Australia and were able to negotiate an arrangement with Apple to include 24 month warranties for iPhones as well.
