Apple take on Galaxy Nexus
Apple lawyers find a new target in Galaxy Nexus – the flagship phone from Google running the latest version of Android operating system. The phone is made by Samsung, therefore on paper, Samsung are the target of this latest legal stoush.
In a suit filed last week in San Jose, Apple said the Galaxy Nexus infringes on 4 patents. The four patents are a ‘data tapping’ patent, a patent related to Siri’s search functionality, a slide-to-unlock patent and a patent on the way that complete words are automatically recommended when typing them into iOS.
In the past year Apple fought legal battles with Samsung over Galaxy Tab 10.1, and with Motorola over patent infringements with varying levels of success. This latest move appears to be another sideways strike at Google as Galaxy Nexus runs pure Android with no carrier modifications.
